The Making of THE CAVIL

The making of THE CAVIL, the Bruce Ryder streak. Production notes and insights

Start

PRODUCTION NOTES: It took uncountable hours and over 100 generations in Midjourney to create the Bruce Ryder Ai streak, along with post-production in Photoshop (nudity is very tricky in open source AI art, there is tight protocol around it). Being the first in the country to produce an AI character like Bruce means we are free flying in this untapped space.

The image was pivotal in the Bruce Ryder story arc, capturing not only the essence of Bruce and his magnetic Bueller-isque persona but also the nostalgic joy when nude runs were the pinnacle of live sports or a night out in the 70s and 80’s. The nude run is joyfully woven into our Australian culture, tucked away in our genX carefree memories with a giggle we can all relate to. I then needed to create the effect of it being shot by a analogue camera at night in post production. This meant studying and adapting the camera angle, flash reflections and filtering.

The image ALSO needed to be iconic enough to be T-shirt worthy.

24hrs since launching, it seems The Cavil is just as popular as the equally intricate Mug Shot, both of which took dedicated hours poured into fine-tuning the AI to emulate human resonance while anchoring the story – were worth it.
